Gur Shakkar

A healthy, nutritious and tasty alternative to refined sugars and artificial sweeteners. This powdered jaggery is packed with healthy calories.

Full of Essential Nutrients

Used for centuries in India and South America, Gur Shakkar is also knwn as Ayurvedic Sugar, Jaggery or Panela. It is known to be packed with essential nutrients that are contained in sugar cane.

How to Use

You can replace all your refined sugars and artificial sweetners with Gur Shakkar. It adds a lovely, tangible flavour to hot & cold beverages and is a wonderful addition to coffee and masala chai.

Made with care

Ayurvedic Sugar or Gur Shakkar is made from the juice of sugarcane which is then boiled until it solidifies. Rich in minerals such as magnesium, zinc and iron, it is not only a healthier alternative to processed sugars but is also beneficial for overall well-being.

Blood Purifier

A great blood purifier helps alleviate digestive issues, helps with the detoxification of the liver and boosts energy levels. Gur Shakkar has high levels of iron, calcium and minerals and unlike refined sugar, does not contain empty calories. It also enhances the taste of tea, coffee and other beverages.

The Right Sugar & Salt = A Healthy Diet

Refined sugar is made from sugar cane or sugar beets, which are then heavily processed. Refined white sugar contains a lot of empty calories and no essential nutrients.

When the normal bacteria inside your mouth come into contact with sugar, acid is produced which can alter internal pH levels. It is believed that an acidic environment is a breeding ground for disease. In order to correct any sort of imbalance, the body draws on its mineral reserves and with the consumption of refined sugars, your body's stored calcium, magnesium and B-vitamins are used up. This, in turn, can lead to fatigue, depression and anxiety.

An inactive lifestyle and largely Western diet leads to large amounts of fructose from added sugars getting turned into fat that is stored in the liver, which can lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Even though un-adulterated foods have formed the basis of human diet for ages, chemical farming inputs and “factory farming” became popular in the last century to maximize crop yields.

The "Food" Problem of the World

Today, our world pays a large price for practices which have resulted in environmental and economic imbalances. What happens to the health of the animals, plants, micro-organisms, soil, oceans and atmosphere, also affects human beings.

Technology and wealth cannot protect anyone from the effects of an unhealthy environment. Our children are particularly vulnerable to the dangers of agricultural toxins as they consume a higher percentage, in relation to their size.

The average child receives four times more exposure to at least eight widely used cancer-causing pesticides found in food, than the average adult does.

The foundation for healthy plants and animals is healthy soil. Organic farming practices help protect water quality, prevent soil erosion, maintain and enhance seed, crop, and ecological biodiversity. Organic food is free from the highly toxic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and growth hormones used in intensive farming and they are also free of artificial colourings.
